Installed in 1951 with a significant upgrade taking place during the 1993-1994 renovation, the Ryman’s second stage was removed in February 2012. The old platform loyally served the many artists who appeared in the venue over 61 years, but a change was needed. With sixteen days set aside for the project, the new construction was up against a hard deadline as there was already a sold-out show with The Band Perry on the books. Fortunately, the new stage was debuted to a packed house on February 20th, 2012. The third stage was constructed of Brazilian Teak and boasted triple the load-bearing capacity of its predecessor. To keep its tie with the past, the very best boards from the 1951 stage were selected and used to form the front three feet of the surface. #ThisWeekinRymanHistory 💒
