Todd Snider & Justin Townes Earle will co-headline the Ryman Auditorium on Saturday, June 2 at 8 p.m. Both Nashville singer-songwriters are releasing new albums this spring.
Snider’s new album, “Agnostic Hymns & Stoner Fables,” casts a critical eye on the state of the world with his trademark blend of wry wit and compassion for the 99%.
“This record doesn’t come from good times,” says Snider about his latest album. “I wanted to sound the way I feel, which sometimes means sounding like a broken soul.”
Justin Townes Earle’s latest album is “Nothing’s Gonna Change The Way You Feel About Me Now." Recorded completely live (no overdubs) over a four-day period with “Harlem River Blues” co-producer Skylar Wilson, the album sheds the rockabilly bravado of previous records in favor of a confident, raw and vulnerable sound.
“The new record is completely different than my last one, ‘Harlem River Blues,’” explains Earle. “This time I’ve gone in a Memphis-soul direction. I think it’s the job of the artist to be in transition and constantly learning more.”
